As another one of Japan’s top 100 sakura viewing sights in Kakunodate, 400 cherry blossom trees were planted to celebrate emperor Akihito’s birthday in 1934. The 2km long sakura tunnel along the Hinokinai riverbank is just a 10-minute walk from Samurai residence street.
