Vast Maruyama Park houses virgin forest, sports ground, zoo, baseball field, Hokkaido Shrine, etc.. Around 2,000 cherry blossom trees are planted at Hokkaido Shrine and the rest of the park. Due to special climate in Hokkaido, sakura and plum flowers flourish at the same time, which is quite special in Japan.
