Located in the south of Hokkaido, Matsumae Park features the earliest cherry blooming in the region. The park is not only home to many historic buildings and ruins, but one of the top 100 sakura viewing spots in Japan. Thanks to over 200 varieties of 10,000 cherry blossom trees, viewing period lasts from late April to late May. Don’t miss three 300-year-old cherry blossom trees here whose types are quite rare.
