As one of the most renowned resorts in Japan, Kawazu boasts the earliest cherry blossoms, from early February to early March, while from late March to early April in Tokyo. Different from the most common sakura type, Yoshino cherry in Japan, sakura in Kawazu features larger petals and deep pink hue. Owing to unparalleled cherry blossom variety and onsen (hot spring), festival held every early spring attracts one million visitors, though pretty cold during the period. It takes two and a half hours from Tokyo to Kawazu by train.
