People began to view cherry blossom in Sumida Park since the Edo period (1603- 1868). Lined with 510 sakura tress, the river bank is not only a sought-after place for picnicking, but also good to spot Tokyo Sky Tree. Meanwhile, taking yakababune (viewing boats) to cruise the river is a popular way to enjoy blossoms as well. Food stands and performances are available during sakura festival.
