As one of Japan’s top 100 cherry blossom viewing sights, Tsuruoka Park is an ideal place to enjoy sakura in Yamagata Prefecture. The original castle was renovated to be a park in 1875. Therefore, there are some historic sites, such as walls, moats and 100-year-old trees.

How to visit
Access: Take train to Tsuruoka Station on the JR Uetsu Line. In front of Tsuruoka Station, take a Shonai Kotsu bus at No. 1 bus stop toward Yunohama Onsen for 10 minutes. Get off at Shiyakusho-mae and walk for 2 minutes.
